Three masteries. One signature on every home.

Master carpenter. Master builder. Master of business. Continental homes are shaped by a founder who has lived all three.

Meet the Founder

G. Alan Stevens Jr.

Founder & Master Builder

Continental Construction & Development is led personally by Gary — a third-generation craftsman whose name appears on every contract, every walk-through, and every home we deliver. When you build with Continental, you build with him.

A personal note: to my family, my kids, and my grandkids, I'm simply known as G.

A Founder's Profile

Authentic craftsmanship, built on a multi-generational foundation.

Continental Construction & Development was founded by a craftsman raised inside multiple generations of family construction influence — trained at an early age alongside some of the best Old World tradesmen this country has to offer. That apprenticeship continues to set the standard for every Continental project: exceptionally detailed, architecturally accurate, and built with the highest level of authentic craftsmanship.

Rooted in the building traditions of New England — where craftsmanship is measured in generations — and brought to Collin County and the surrounding DFW market in 2013, our work has always been guided by a single conviction: a home is more than a building. It is the place a family becomes itself.

“We create the buildings in which families build their homes.”

The Three Masteries

What it means when one person has mastered all three.

Most builders are strong in one discipline. A rare few are fluent in all three — and those are the homes that endure.

To be a master is not to stand atop some final summit, gazing down with satisfaction at all that has been conquered. It is, instead, to remain a humble student of one's craft — quietly aware of how much more there is still to learn. The title carries no crown or certificate of completion; it simply marks a person who has chosen to show up consistently, refining their skills through patient repetition, small failures, and quiet triumphs.

True mastery, if we are honest, always slips just beyond our grasp. The more one delves into their field, the clearer it becomes how vast and intricate it truly is. A master, then, is simply someone who embraces this truth without discouragement — striving not for perfection, but for progress. In that humility lies the freedom to remain on the path, learning alongside others, and honoring the craft by never stopping.

Mastery I

Master Carpenter

Trained from a young age in Old World finish work. The founder's signature is in the millwork, joinery, beamed ceilings, and historically accurate detail — the parts of a home you touch every day.

  • Specifies finish work that artisans can actually execute
  • Spots contractor shortcuts and inefficiencies on sight
  • Holds the trim, cabinetry, and joinery to a furniture-maker's standard

Mastery II

Master Builder

Decades of hands-on field leadership across luxury, high-end residential builds. Sequencing, structure, mechanicals, and trade orchestration — all directed by someone who has stood on the slab and read the framing himself.

  • Catches errors most buyers — and many builders — miss
  • Schedules and sequences trades with field-tested judgment
  • Personally accountable for the work, not just the contract

Mastery III

Master of Business

Twenty-plus years running the company that bears his name — a business built almost entirely on referrals and word-of-mouth. Honest pricing, disciplined planning, and a straight-shooter approach to every conversation.

  • Transparent budgets and protected timelines
  • Single point of accountability from contract through warranty
  • A reputation underwritten by repeat clients, not advertising

Why It Matters

Three disciplines, one phone call.

When the builder, the carpenter, and the businessman are the same person, the seams between design intent, field execution, and budget disappear. Decisions get made faster. Quality survives them. And the home you move into looks like the home you were promised.

Our clients tell us the difference is most visible after move-in — in a kitchen banquette that draws compliments for years, in a ceiling detail that still feels considered a decade later, in a house that simply behaves the way it should.

His expertise is undoubtedly apparent through the knowledge he exhibited. He easily spotted contractor shortcuts and inefficiencies as well as builder oversights that would have otherwise gone unrecognized by an average home buyer like me. The errors he pinpointed were 100% spot-on, as my builder acknowledged and made every correction recommended. As a result, I was able to close on my new home with an overwhelming sense of confidence.

From design, to color selection and construction, we could not be more pleased with the process. The craftsmanship was impeccable. Our final results are a one-of-a-kind kitchen, banquette and ceiling that draws compliments from friends and family. I would use him for our next project and recommend him to friends whenever I have the opportunity.

Chris and I want to express our sincere gratitude for your guidance, expertise, and especially your patience throughout this process. Even with prior experience navigating a build, it can still feel daunting at times — and your steady presence has made all the difference. I can speak from experience when I say it's rare to find a builder you can trust completely. We have found that in you, and it has brought us so much peace and confidence throughout this journey. Thank you for your integrity, your care, and the way you've made this experience one we can truly enjoy. We are incredibly thankful to be working with you.
